Not really. He's useful, but we barely get a sense of how vital his services are in day-to-day life. Meanwhile, almost everyone else around him is more powerful than he is. I would say that fighting ability is probably considered more valuable to the whole operation than medical skill.
Sure but as seen in TA3 and TY2, he's like the only one who can fix the bodies of the girls after they have been messed up by all the drugs, curses, body modifications and mind control that is put onto them. There's other talented taimanins that could prove as a substitute for others but without him they'd have lost several of their skilled members.
