can i request this long ass shit bro? [Lune] Kyonyuu Gunjin Shihai Saimin  Watashi no Ninmu wa Anata ni Gohoushi Suru Koto Desu. Ironna Ana o Gojiyuuni Otsukai Kudasai

Okay.

Anonymous asked:

Hi, where can I get the partial patch for Taimanin Kurenai?

Here, but there's going to be a second one soon.

Anonymous asked:

A bit curious since I'm not well versed in Taimanin lore. Is Action Taimanin's story decent or simply bad compared to the mainline story? (setting aside the H stuff here)

I haven't played as much of that as I would have liked. I think I got two or three story chapters in, so I really couldn't tell you.

Anonymous asked:

Not a question exactly, just wanted to say how scared i was when i decided to check for the first time in a whilñe and saw your old page was down, when did it happen and any particular reason why?

I made a post explaining the situation. Suffice it to say, my rampant bigotry was finally met by the swift hand of justice, and we are all safer as a result.

Anonymous asked:

happy hondadays my dude, or merry toyotathon if you're into that instead. What are you currently translating, and what's your next project(s)?

I'm doing Taimanin Kurenai. Unless there's an absolutely massive swing in requests, the next one is probably Hyouryuu Kangoku Chronos.

Anonymous asked:

What is up with the new “Worse than what we had” part of your slogan? Do you honestly believe you translation quality is worse than what we had before?

That's referring to every aspect of the new blog. Behind the scenes, it's been a little bit of a shitshow. I have to do the Ask feature manually. The theme is pretty unmanageable unless you know a decent amount about XML, so I can't even get the progress meter on separate lines. This was also not my first choice of themes: the one I preferred made you click on preview icons for posts, instead of actually showing the content like a functional web page. Even with this, I had to look up some code that would actually show the entire contents of the post, which is why there are so many redundant Read More links. There's a seriously half-assed, cobbled-together feel to this site.

Anonymous asked:

Has any scene has been particularly difficult to translate so far in taimanin Kurenai (outside of the tentacle ones)?

They've mostly been okay. The scenes are pretty bog-standard until you get to the endings. The one irritation is in dealing with the way Tomari talks.

Anonymous asked:

The number of questions seems to have dropped significantly. Did you enjoy answering them?

I don't know if enjoy is the right word, but they keep the blog active. From what I can tell, I'm still missing about half the audience that the Tumblr blog used to have. That will probably change over time, as more and more things link here.

Several months ago, in the lost Tumblr age, I had someone begging rather desperately for me to translate a Maika scene. Now it's Christmas, and I don't have any better ideas, so here's a very topical summer bunny-themed unit. I chose it largely at random based on the CGs, so there's apparently some context to explain.
A year or so ago, there was a recurring plot device where Fuuma had been captured off-screen, and various characters were being extorted into prostituting themselves to save him. As such, this scene counts as NTR, and it's not about to let you forget it. So if you're the one who wanted this, and you happen to hate NTR, just picture that monkey's paw curling a finger.

Caesar_Red asked:

Hi rattan, i dont have data.pkg in my Towako game. What can i do?

Are you even playing the right version? If there are .xp3 files, you're using the old one. If your Animation version doesn't have data.pkg, then it simply can't run.

Anonymous asked:

I recall you stating that in KS3 you didn't get Kila Kushan's ending. So, which ending(s) did ya get? (If you don't remember enough specific details, that's fine. Also, this isn't intended to come off as asking about plot points, I'm just curious which ending or endings you got.)

I think I only got the true ending. And it didn't have much of an impact on me, because I had to play the game in two chunks a year apart. Maybe when I'm done Kurenai, I'll finally get those last few scenes.

dkz asked:

I've heard you are in your thirties, what kind advice would rattan say to young rattan or someone in their 20's apart from fap your incredible content :)?

Take good care of your teeth. Toothaches aren't just bad, they're expensive.

Anonymous asked:

If you could create your own original character in taimanin universe how she would be?

This is the sort of thing I mean when I say not to ask me for ideas. I don't have an idea for that, and I can't just suddenly conjure up one that's detailed, or hasn't been done already. Pretty much every conceivable gimmick for ninja arts has already been used in gacha, from stone, to paper, to alcohol. The only way you could have a distinct character and personality is by doing something that Lilith typically wouldn't, such as having a middle-aged character, or a man, or something fairly lore-breaking, like a half-orc.

Anonymous asked:

Are you asian?

No.

Anonymous asked:

One of the TY2's scene (Rinko) has a pun with words 'come' and 'cum'. I'm curious - Has the Japanese version the same pun?

Sort of. Whereas we use "come" as our slang for "have an orgasm", the Japanese use "go". That means that whenever there's a double entendre involving the word, the meaning has to be awkwardly inverted.

That particular scene was such a massive pain, because Kuroi kept saying things that didn't make any sense, and which had to both signal what was happening to the audience and not arouse suspicion in Tatsurou. I think the original sentence was something along the lines of, "She'll be back after I go," with "go" spelled in katakana during Rinko's version, to signify unambiguously that it was being used in a sexual sense.

I tried so many different versions of this, looking to find one that worked as a double-entendre, wouldn't seem obvious to Tatsurou, and would still make logical sense. Eventually, I decided that the things he was saying didn't make any sense in the original Japanese anyway (which was why Tatsurou was always confused by them), so there was no point in trying too hard on that last one.

A worse instance in that scene was when Kuroi made Tatsurou face the door, telling him, "That's right. Look carefully. There's something to do with/related to Rinko." That single line took me a whole night. From Tatsurou's perspective, he's being told that something about the door relates to where Rinko is, and he's confused. From the opposite perspective, he's merely being told to turn around and face the door, and when he questions it, Kuroi's reply can be interpreted as, "Look carefully. I'm having sex with Rinko." I spent hours coming up with different rewrites for that line, deliberating over whether they reworked the sentences too heavily, and whether they both communicated the double entendre, and were still subtle enough for Tatsurou to not catch on. The best compromise I could come up with was, "Look carefully, and you'll find something has relations with Rinko."

Anonymous asked:

Which TA character (sans TA0's Asagi) frustrated you the most? (And, yes, this can be for any reason/reasons.)

Frustrated isn't really the word for it, but I would say Saya. I really hated her high-pitched voice and six-year-old child mentality.

Second patch till Christmas? This is not a question. It's retorical.I command you.Check your bedroom window.

No. You can't make me.

Anonymous asked:

Do you have any favourite hentai doujinshi manga?

Not really.

Anonymous asked:

What is your JLPT level between N1 to N5?

No idea. If there's any component to the test other than reading, then it's probably very low. As I've mentioned countless times, pretty much all of my skills apart from reading comprehension have degraded due to lack of use.

Caesar_Red asked:

translating is like a commpulsive disorder for you? i can relate cuz i have something similar with modding paradox games archives.

Not really. I'm just so used to doing it that I might as well keep it up. At this point, I've partially structured my schedule around it.

Anonymous asked:

Hi there, I've started playing Taimanin Yukikaze 2 Animation recently and I wanted to extract the animated CGs.

I found that the files inside the .pkg file are encrypted with a password. I've tried to look on Google on anything that is related but I'm not too sure I've came across anything useful. Since you made the English patch for the game, you might be the best to contact for this. I'll appreciate it if you can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I would have replied to this yesterday, but Google detected their own form submission format as spam.

The code is wVKnFpA808v0UBmj

Anonymous asked:

What is the Lilith VN you most enjoyed reading and/or translating?

That would probably be TA3. There was a lot of variety in the scenes, and a genuine sense that big things were going down.

Anonymous asked:

Who do you like more between Yukikaze, Rinko, Shiranui, and Shizuru?

That really depends on how they're done. I thought Rinko was kind of mediocre and unremarkable in TY1, but she was clearly the better character in TY2. Although I haven't played through most of the gacha scenes, I have to assume that they don't give any room for the kind of characterization that made her endearing in TY2, so I would say I prefer Yukikaze in most cases. I've never cared for Shiranui, and RPGX events have made Shizuru seem pretty unremarkable herself.

Anonymous asked:

Why did Oboro try to cheat at a dance competition in RPGX? (I hope this doesn't count as trying to clarify plot points; I'm not too RPGX-savvy lol.)

As far as I remember, there was a gate to the demon world in an island cave, but it was part of a sacred shrine that the locals wouldn't let anyone into. (Or it might have been that they just wouldn't tell anyone where it was in the first place.) At the same time, a celebrity from the island was trying to improve tourism and revitalize the island. And so, she started a dance competition, and the prize included a tour of the forbidden parts of the shrine. So instead of Fuuma's Taimanin squad saying, "Hi, we're from the government, and we think there might be a serious public danger in your shrine," or Oboro's Nomad team just looking for the cave and barging in there by force, both parties took part in a dance-off.

This is what Taimanin has turned into. Oboro isn't even genuinely evil anymore: She took in a cat, and donates money to homeless children. She retains her bitchy attitude, but the only times when she's even close to the way she used to be are during the sex scenes, when she's dominating Fuuma.

Yes. The project hasn't changed, just the location.

Caesar_Red asked:

Do you think people who know japanese have a special status among weeb community, like more respect?

Not really. I've never seen any sign of it. But then, I don't tend to look at discussion forums, so I could be wrong.

Anonymous asked:

Do you work with anyone (in regards to translating)?

No. I've been helped with tools a small handful of times, but I do the main work myself.

Caesar_Red asked:

Hi Calamus, wanna ask you two questions, the first is one that i now that is against rules, but i know you will response anyway because you are a kind person who likes to help people (also i want to ask you specifically) ¿Do you recommend learn only the meaning of the kanji and no the readings? my only purpose is learn to read japanese, no speak or anything else.

Second question, i read in some vndb review a theory about you being Nephrinn (Dark Translations) ¿is this true?

And last i wanna say that when i see the reddit page of visual novel releases and see your name i feel so proud and zestful, like "We are here"

You don't really have to bother learning all the various readings when you're only focusing on kanji. You can learn them well enough organically as you memorize vocabulary. Just make sure that you do learn most of them somehow: You can't get by merely on memorizing the shapes of words, when you're talking about a language that arbitrarily (or stylistically) switches between character sets. There's also a problem that you absolutely will encounter—I've had to deal with this many times, even in the professional works I'm translating—where the characters of a word will be misconverted into a homophone of that word. When you see that, you'll need to have the reading of the right characters or word in mind, so you can identify what it was supposed to be. That also goes for the kanji replacement puns that the Japanese seem to like so much.

I'm not Nephrinn, but people still seem to think I am. It's understandable, because I started out very much trying to imitate him, and I ended up with a similar kind of style, making similar kinds of mistakes. Nephrinn seemingly disappeared into the ether as his momentum on KS2 petered out. The last sign I saw of him was an indication on his HongFire account page that he was still logging in from time to time. I never saw him publicly answer questions about whether he was still around or not.

Anonymous asked:

First off congratulations on coming back, I'm really glad you are back, was blogger the back up you once said you were preparing or did you just have to hurry and find something quick and this was your first choice?

I had no real plan. I was always expecting that if the blog got taken down, it would be because of some sort of legal threat. In that case, I would adopt a new identity on a new service, and it would be completely disconnected from this one. I hadn't planned for the possibility of getting arbitrarily banned with virtually no warning, and needing to transplant everything over to a new site.

After the ban, I spent hours looking over various websites, but I couldn't find a half-decent blogging service that had the same kind of features as Tumblr. I was mainly going off of articles made during the porn apocalypse, intended to direct porn-posting Tumblr users to new communities. But so many of them were just expanded Twitter clones, and I want a blog, not a social network.

I very nearly went over to Dreamwidth, but I absolutely hated the LiveJournal-esque layouts and interface. I tried Bdsmlr, but it's a dying site that doesn't allow any customization, and you can only see about three posts if you're not logged in. For the questions, I tried ask.fm, and I hope to God never to have to use it again. It's like Tumblr without the blog component, and you're constantly being sent questions from random people, with no apparent way of turning that off.

Eventually, I just needed somewhere to put posts up, so I got this account for the hell of it. And luckily, it came with a built-in contact form, which accidentally solves the problem of asking questions. But this is really my last resort: I still need suggestions for a proper backup service, for the next time the forces of "Safety" come after me.
