How do you go about doing the translation, is it by translating each word by hand, or possibly using a translation software and fixing it up where needed

I line the script up next to a copy of the original text, and go through it line by line. I do multiple passes (hence, translation, editing, proofreading). The translation phase can just be trying to get the words conveyed in English coherently, without worrying about whether or not it reads well. The major one is editing, in which I look for mistakes and semi-finalize my phrasing. The only software I use is a small collection of mostly-online dictionaries, and some Google searches if there's anything really complicated.
