Do canadians actually care about the stanley cup or is that just a stereotype?

The hockey stereotypes are absolutely real. Sports are one of the major things that turn Canadians into Americans. Offhand, I recall a regional soccer match between Ottawa and Toronto, where the visiting Toronto fans responded to their team not doing well by setting the pitch on fire. If the Leafs ever manage to win the Stanley Cup, I expect none of us to be found alive in the wreckage.
