AI is getting better, but for translating Japanese, especially when it comes to pronoun, it is still very rough due to the use of context and such. Do you think it will get better soon (as in the next year or so) or will it take much longer?

I do prefer human translated VN, or course, but not a lot of people do it. It would be much better if AI got at least the pronouns right.

Or, if impossible to get the pronouns right, can we get the Japanese to change their language? That might be the easier solution, at this point.

I would say that within five years, it will be about as good as you could expect it to get. It can even decode slurred speech now, to some extent. The real problem is whether it will still hallucinate things that aren't in the original sentence, which you would never know unless you were comparing the output to the original. That was what kind of ticked me off about people being impressed by DeepL, when I could tell how wildly wrong a lot of its outputs seemed to be.
