One thing I hated about TABA was the fact that there was so many one shot characters do you think RPGX is heading down this road?

RPGX has been like that from the beginning. The difference is that RPGX has been better at reusing the one-shot characters in its events. You’re frequently reminded of their existence, so they start to feel like more of an expanded cast of characters that the audience can grow accustomed to. Most of the time it’s just pointless filler content, but it absolutely serves its purpose of familiarizing the audience with the OCs. I doubt a character like Mai would normally have gotten a sequel unit, if not for the fact that the writers were really in love with her paper gimmick, and used her constantly for a while.

Kind of. The problem with yaoi is that it’s frequently either steeped in cheap, crappy romance without much substance, or filled with the most angular people you’ve ever seen. The first issue is also the reason I usually don’t pay attention to yuri: I’ve seen too many manga that are nonstop blushing and feelings, and I frankly don’t care how “pure” that’s supposed to be if it’s fucking boring.

No, that’s it. That’s all I can think of. I’ve played plenty of games where the protagonist was stupid, but not many where they were actually dislikable. The only other that’s coming to mind is Bogan in KS1, back when he was just a petty-minded asshole with no depth, and no motivation other than revenge.

Which video game level was/is the most frustrating to you?

There were all the end levels of VVVVVV, but that’s a good kind of frustration. Apart from that, the only thing I can think of is the Cyprus quests in Age of Empires Online, which was an atrociously-balanced game, and constantly expected you to have all the best equipment available. Those particular scenarios were also balanced for the optional co-op play, so they took forever, and I had to exploit units that were equally broken to survive. On top of that, there was no saving, so if you got disconnected from Games for Windows Live for five seconds, you lost an hour of single-player progress for no reason whatsoever. I don’t know if Cyprus is kinder to you in the fan version, but I frankly have no intention of ever finding out.

Have you any interest into translating dual tails older stuff considering that probably nobody will grab them since even the current dual tails team is working on the most recent Venus Blood stuff for localization rather than their own older works like Desire, Empire or the original one?

I don’t know if I want to get into Venus Blood, for various reasons. They do seem to have some games that aren’t from that series, but I don’t know if they might have the same basic issues. The two main things to consider are age (the older a game is, the less likely it is to be patchable) and the apparent game elements. Proofreading is bad enough without having to add playtesting on top of it.

I’m pretty sure I can’t do Valkyria games. They seem to use a proprietary engine that nobody’s developed tools for. Apart from that, I won’t know until I try to pack or unpack the files.
