How difficult is the whole process of translating these types of games? Is it more tedious or complicated to do so? Is it easy for someone to do it or does it take a lot of knowledge and experience to do?

I'd say it's easy, but most people fail because it's also extremely boring. It can be complicated if there are some kind of obnoxious engine problems, but most of the games I've dealt with have been quite straightforward once you crack them open.
