As a French speaking guy, I noticed that in Japanese VN and games there are a lot of characters with French names. I know there are some other names that are from other countries, but it seems to me French names are the most used (besides Japanese, of course).

Do some Japanese creators like the sound of French names more than other languages or am I hallucinating?

It's probably the way they sound, although it could also have something to do with Japan's minor cultural fixation with Paris, which they romanticize as a model of European culture and sophistication. And then they actually get there, and need counselling for life.
