What do you think Lilith will do for the 20th anniversary of the Taimanin series? Will she announce a new VN that will be a continuation of the main story or a new side story? Or something completely different?
Given their track record, I'd say the smart money is on nothing. The one thing they have done is port a version of the TA1 story into RPGX, which sure makes for a bizarre tonal whiplash. As for anything new, at most, you might get an announcement for this "Taimanin Squad" gacha that's supposedly in the works.
They ported TA1 into RPGX? When did that happen? Does it include all the scenes?
ReplyDeleteThere are no scenes. It's only the story parts. It's also an extremely weird hybrid, where they mix and match old art with new art. Zero Byg with TA1 Asagi, TA1 store background with TA3 house background, etc. What's arguably more bizarre is that, although they modified the script a little bit to fit the gacha format and the modern version of the world, they still have Asagi talking about orcs raping women and turning them into meat toilets, which these days would NEVER be said so explicitly in our safe-for-work, family-friendly franchise.
DeleteI've often thought that something like this would be the way to move forward with the series: Remake the games as gacha content; give it new art; expand the stories for the sake of the SFW RPG version; rework the world building to reflect RPGX's lore, and include its characters, Gosha, etc. Sell that stuff piecemeal for 100 Taima stones per segment, and what you effectively end up with is an extremely cheap way of continuing with VNs, wherein you can nickle-and-dime the gacha whales, reuse assets constantly, and still cater to the original audience in some way. Unfortunately, I have a feeling they don't have that kind of business sense, though.
Was this available in the RPG version as well, or just RPGX? If it's the latter, that would explain them being more loose with talking about rape.
DeleteI have no idea, and I can't be bothered to find out. They also didn't remove the nipples, so it may just be RPGX. But at that point, why not just port a scene or two?
