Anonymous asked:
Can you translate a VN series called gyakushuu?
Possibly.
Better than nothing.
Anonymous asked:
How long do you believe the RPGX scene will take to translate?
There's no telling that. Not only does my productivity depend on my life and work circumstances, but they're all very different lengths. Some scenes are about 300 lines, whereas others are over 1000.
Will the scenes you translate work with that Taimanin scene viewer thing?
Yes. Ideally, I'll be able to put out patches that you can just drop into the viewer.
Anonymous asked:
For the RPGX translations, how would you go about doing the polls for knowing which scenes people do or don't care about? Especially for people who haven't seen any of them, so they don't know which ones are good or bad.
Would it be about characters, scene descriptions, something else? Sadly, some popular characters have very boring scenes while some not-as-well-liked characters have good scenes.
I think a poll describing broadly what happens (mostly saying if it's vanilla or not) would be the way to go, but maybe too time consuming and maybe a bit too spoilery for some? And even then, vanilla might be boring to me but great for others, so a scene description might not be it either? And a lot of people will still want to see all the popular characters scenes no-matter-what. And then be disappointed :)
Or maybe, just maybe, I am overthinking it a bit? :)
I'm not going to bother describing the scenes, because I've barely played any of them myself. I'm working on the assumption that people will either know which characters they like, or which scenes they're interested in seeing. The polls are not going to be like my requests list. There will only be a small number of choices each time, and there will be rules and structure to them. I've written the full details out in that longer post, which I'll be dropping sometime in August.
Doing the event stories should bolster support for the less well-known characters, since they're basically advertisements for that gacha cycle. Plus, the game goes through various phases where they're really in love with a certain character's gimmick or situation. First it's Hebiko, then it's Mai, then it's Clone Asagi and her Scooby Doo detective agency gang, etc. So if, say, Mai has a good scene, and nobody can really remember who she is or why they should care, they might feel differently after seeing enough of her in the story.
I said I was going to post an update on the gacha situation, but this isn't really it. I wrote a long, detailed post about this whole thing, and then decided not to post it yet, lest it gain the wrong kind of attention. Back on Tumblr, DMM was getting kind of annoying about taking down the TY2 patch just because I had put gacha scenes in it, and they didn't stop until I moved here. So, although I'll still talk about it on this blog, I think I'm actually going to wait until shortly after the official end of service to lay out the full situation. I also might not do it directly through this blog; I'm thinking of using a Rentry page for this stuff, so as to not tie it so obviously back here if somebody wants to link it.
Suffice to say, I have an idea of how I'm going to balance gacha and VNs. I shouldn't have to skip (almost) any story, but I will (at least temporarily) skip the scenes that nobody cares about. There will be proper voting involved. I won't be able to keep up the pace of the official release, because things happen and I'm busy. But from what I've seen, a lot of early scenes are fairly short, so that could make it easier to keep putting out updates, even if I'm still occupied with something else. I may also release it in the form of a viewer patch, but that's if I can ever figure out how to run the patcher tool, which has failed on three operating systems so far.
Anonymous asked:
Are there any other porn gachas comparable to RPGX in popularity?
I just checked the top rankings on DMM. RPGX is #1 at the moment, but there are some other well-known games on there, such as Millennium War Aigis, Kamihime Project R, and even (on the download rankings) NU: Carnival. There were also some games that I've seen on the list before, but which I'm not sure have wider international attention, like Sweet Home Maid R and Flower Knight Girl.
Anonymous asked:
which taimanin game do you think has the best world building? I was a little disappointed by lilith putting some actual thought into the world building for the first 15 minutes of rpgx and then completely shitting on it.
I think the obvious answer has to be TA3, because that's the heaviest they've ever focused on story in the proper games. That said, I am partial to the atmosphere of the setting in TY1.
RPGX is a complete tonal shift, so I don't consider anything they added to be congruous with the VN universe. It's like the lighthearted shounen anime version of Taimanin, where there's usually a happy ending, and all the characters genuinely are sluts this time. And if you thought what you've been getting is stupid, just wait until we get to the likes of the Super Sonico event, where the government decides to give their secret, borderline-illegal ninja spy organization a goddamn children's show for PR purposes.
Anonymous asked:
Do you think Tendou's backstory is meant to make him sympathetic or do you think it's just to explain why he's a POS?
I think it was intended to give him complexity as a character, but they ruined it by only doing that exposition at the end.
DD+ asked:
would you translate the scenes of Kamimura Maika Future and Vivi Blood in taimanin RPGX?
DD+ asked:
requests of taimanin rpgx:
Black Cat Sensei Sakura igawa Scene
Mizuki Shiranui and Uehara Shikanosuke scene
Kamimura Azuma scene
Fuuma Amane summer scene
Given enough time, yes. However, I don't think I can give scenes like that priority at the beginning. This situation has dropped on me at a not-great time, and I'm still developing my plan on how to deal with it. There are well over fifty scenes involving the OG or popular gacha characters that I think people will want to see, and I have to balance that against being in the middle of a VN, having a lot of work for the foreseeable future, and the fact that some characters require that I get up to a certain point in the story for exposition. (For example, it would be almost pointless to do a scene involving Tsuru before I got through her story arc, because not many people would know who she is.)
I'm going to have a public update on the situation fairly soon, but I'm deliberately holding off on posting it while I try to assess the realities of the problem. In the meantime, put in all the scene requests you like, because popularity will factor into the order in which I do them.
Anonymous asked:
Hay rattan man what do you think about the idea that vn are non profitable?
I thought that was obvious. There's a reason why all the big companies have been trying their hand at gacha. The only ones that go back to VNs are the ones that outright fail, like Empress.
Do you think because of that that we will eventually see rpgx return? I'm not hopeful just watching this guys video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR6IKEkYbAI what are your takes and how is life going for you?
I doubt RPGX is coming back in any way. Like I said at the time, it would be unusual for them to shut down this quickly, and then try to relaunch again in the future. The most I can see them doing is recycling the scenes for some other game, but if they tried that, it would probably piss off the Japanese players, who have seen them all already.
Anonymous asked:
Would you be willing to date a voice actress of an adult VN? Even if she had to voice a lot of disgusting and lewd voicelines? Do you think you could kiss her on the lips after that?
I don't see why not. Frankly, whenever I hear anything particularly dirty or ridiculous, my mind goes straight to what it must have looked like to make those sounds in the recording booth. Next time you hear a character cumming her brains out, just picture the actress making those sounds, sitting at a table with a completely straight face, before pausing briefly to turn a page and do the next line.

Is there a hentai or eroge that you like or love but pretty much everybody else appears to dislike or hate it?
Not that I can think of. There are several cases where I dislike something that everybody else loves, like the Bible Black anime, but nothing in the other direction.

Why are credit card companies going harder on policing this stuff recently?
Anonymous asked:
Why do you think credit card companies have been recently going harder on this stuff?
It's mostly the fault of activists. Which is to the surprise of nobody, since activists have spent most of the last decade and a half actively trying to ruin the world, in the name of fighting against problems that only started to exist because of them ruining the world. I don't know why it's all kicking off now, but I assume there must have been some lobbying that I don't know about, either publicly or behind closed doors.
Anonymous asked:
Do you think the credit card companies will eventually win and have it their way?
Yes. The only alternative at this point in time is to turn to cryptocurrency, but it's still too unstable and foreign a concept to achieve mainstream popularity. So what's probably going to happen is that the industry will keep having to make little changes (explicit words replaced with euphemisms, the most "extreme" stuff delisted from stores, more and more restrictions on new content, etc.), until it eventually becomes unfeasible to make anything that powerful activists dislike. It won't have to be technically impossible to make or sell, say, a rape game, but you will have to jump through so many hoops, or limit your reach to so few retailers, or only accept such obscure and shady methods of payment that it will be easier to simply comply. We already have similar sorts of things in the Western indie porn game scene, where you're at risk of Patreon demonetizing you if you even include something as mundane as incest.

I checked Lilith-Soft website and it looks they are purging information on their non-Taimanin games. Do you know what is going on? Has the end times finally come. I guess it is time take the Lilith-Soft games we have and make back-up copies of them.
I think I know what's going on. They got rid of all their games because the industry is currently under pressure from credit card companies. Various download stores have been delisting games, or replacing terms like rape with euphemisms. Lilith have been hiding their catalogue while they do a manual review of which games they can still get away with selling, which is why they're coming back slowly and selectively. I think they're going backwards through their catalogue, starting with the big cash cow series, and followed by all other releases. You'll notice that they put all the Taimanin games back up except for Mama, and it may stay that way due to the shota content. If you look at the pages they've restored, they're all censored, leading to various sentences like "自らは闇の闘技場で恥●に塗れながら 最も軽蔑すべきものたちの●●●●として 仔まで孕ませる事に…!"
This is likely the reason why Sasayama was warning us that they might not sell Rinkan Club anymore: if "gang rape" is in the name, it might be harder to sweep under the rug. It's also a little concerning that they haven't gone straight to restoring Kangoku Senkan after Taimanin.

all the scenes from popular Vn's If you can it would be apprecitated to translate the rpgx story and scenes into engilsh. Is it possible to give you a tip jar for the work and time you spent? I dont have much myself and am not aksking you to quit your job or do a patreon thing but if you are going to do this how can we help?
One of the issues with accepting donations is that they wouldn't actually help the situation, other than making me better off. Money can't buy me more time to work, or make my head clearer when I'm tired. The only way it could help is by replacing my job altogether, but I can't leave my business out of social obligation. (Unless it collapses.)

Would you say all of what you've seen of the Tsuma Netori series is forgettable?
Yes. The only interesting part of it is the straight femdom aspect of the game, and that's only because it's the sort of thing that Lilith rarely does. And also maybe the part where Shirou rigs up the dildo so that Makoto rapes herself. Apart from that, it's pretty unremarkable.

Do you think there might be another attempt for Taimanin RPGX to come back? I feel like if the Apple walled garden actually gets broken down by either EU or US, it would likely lead to porn apps, like RPGX, growing in popularity due to easier access
It's possible, but I doubt it. If your gacha fails after six months, you typically don't just show up a couple years later and try again. And they're unlikely to add an English option to the DMM version, because you would still need a VPN, and any new players would be several years behind. At most, I could see them putting the scenes they've already had translated into Taimanin Collection, but I hardly expect them to commission any further translations just for that thing.

Besides Taimanin Asagi: Toraware no Niku Ningyou and Taimanin Shiranui: Inyoku no Dorei Shoufu (which I recall you saying that you haven't watched), have you seen all hentai OVAs based on Lilith games?
The only OVAs I've seen are TA1, TA2, TY1, Hell Knight Ingrid, and most recently, all the Tsuma Netori sequels apart from the last one. And I only watched Tsuma Netori because I was sick and had nothing better to do.

What do you think of Taimanin RPG Extasy shutting down?
Anonymous asked:
Any thoughts on the English/Global version of RPGX shutting down not even a year after release? In your opinion is eroge based gacha doomed to fail in the western market?
I'm pretty astounded that they couldn't even make it last a year. I don't think the market or product category are the problem. Nutaku has enough stupid games that seem to do well enough, and TABA lasted for the entire run with a small fraction of the original version's playerbase. (Which was why you could actually compete for event rewards in it, whereas in the original it wasn't even worth trying.)
I think the reason for this is simply that it was handled atrociously. Everybody knows about the Taima crystal debt situation, which is unbelievably bad PR for a game that's only just come out. It probably scared away a lot of the whales. But also, they decided to be ambitious and make changes to the game which were completely unnecessary. The changes they made to TABA typically fell into either the category of pointless or beneficial (adding music, for instance). Global RPGX changed major aspects for the sake of changing them, and it ended up causing their developers a lot of unnecessary work. You already have a primary dev team who have made the game, evolved the game, fixed the bugs, balanced the stats and gem costs, etc. Other people have done the work for you, and you decide to completely change a lot of things, which inherently forces you to do all that stuff from scratch. That means you can't just hire a skeleton maintenance team, a small translation group and a community relations manager. You have to pay and retain people to actively adapt the game to your version, and spend time considering how things will be balanced, and how to incorporate new features from the original that are in conflict with yours. Not to mention the bugs you will inevitably introduce.

Anonymous asked:
Hay rattan man did you hear about rpgx shutting down on aug 1 this year? What do you think about this and if i can ask would you be willing to translate more scenes for the game?
Well...... I did once say I intended to translate all the Taimanin games...... *Monkey's paw curls a finger*
The only reason that I haven't done more scenes is because I knew the game would inevitably get an official translation. I didn't see it lasting as long as the original, but I thought for sure it would go at least two or three years. The amount of work this would take is genuinely insurmountable for me. I did a quick calculation based on the most recent viewer patch, and if every single event cycle contains as many lines, then I couldn't even keep pace with the game, let alone work at catching up. Also, thanks to problems with my business, I'm currently having to do the work of 1½ people, and it's going to get worse in the summer, just like it did last year. I might have long stretches where I can't work on anything at all.
So, my current stance on the matter is this: I will do more scenes, but I don't expect to do them all. I'm also not sure what to do about story, but I'm thinking that I would have to focus on the main chapters and skip over events, with very few exceptions. I'm considering several different courses of action, from only doing popular scenes occasionally (since I still have at least one game to get through in the meantime), to doing one scene a month, to continuing to do VNs, and doing huge blocks of RPGX content in between them. I can't make any promises of any kind, because life keeps conspiring to take all my time away as it is. If anyone has any better ideas, feedback would be appreciated, because I'm at a loss as to how to handle this situation.
