Not especially. I would like to see Butcha U back, as well as Mizuryuu Kei. By and large, though, I would prefer that they build up the roster that already exists, rather than get new artists to make yet more one-off characters.

"Dark" games are typically less boring and mundane. All I want is creativity and novelty. I can play a vanilla game perfectly well if it has some element that makes it unusual.

Would you replace the saying with "where there is smoke, there is fire" to maintain the fire saying? Would you transliterate it, or remove the saying entirely?

That depends on how I'm approaching the entire project. In a more liberal translation or localization style, I would be more likely to immediately rewrite it as something like "Where there's smoke, etc. etc." Otherwise, I would be more inclined to stick as closely to the actual words of the sentence as possible, and then evaluate how it sounds and whether it communicates the information without further explanation.

Also, this is getting into "asking me for translations" territory, which is a banned question type for a reason.

Some of it's definitely legitimate, but I can tell when an unnatural pattern's developed. Plus, there's no way to be subtle about trying to rig the requests list when I barely get requests anymore.

Like I said before, it's on the table, but I would probably only do it in conjunction with something else, like gacha content, because I have to figure it's very likely to be taken away from me at any time.

I don't want to say anything's off the table, but I'm not keen on working on anything that has too much gameplay. The reason for this is that the proofreading phase is analogous to playtesting. I don't want to, for example, be stalled from progressing by a boss battle, or have to replay a section over and over again to see every branching path a choice causes, or do something really hard or obscure to see a bit of game content. It's made worse by the fact that I would have to go over that stuff again at least once to make sure that any changes I make look right, are correct and don't break anything. VNs are easy, because all you have to do is go back a certain number of choices and press the skip button until it gives you something you haven't covered yet.

Also, are you going to cancel the other VN below now? It looks decent enough so that'd kinda suck if so.

It's not "cancelled", not least of all because I didn't pick it up in the first place. It's still an option. It's just that I stopped counting new requests for it a long time ago. That said, I expect it will probably be localized someday. Given the age of some of the games Shiravune has been licensing, clearly nothing is safe, and it does look good enough to get picked up. If I do Gyakushuu, it might be slowly and half-heartedly, with the expectation of getting screwed over.

It's mostly dependent on context, sentence flow, speaking styles, etc. Sometimes it will be explicitly followed by a question mark, so that decides things for me. I have a bad habit of trying to convey all the little minutia of a sentence, which I've needed to unlearn because these things get way too awkward in English if they're used to excess. They're used much more casually in Japanese than any equivalent we have, so sometimes it can be left to implication, phrased in a way that more indirectly implies an expectation of agreement (e.g., "That was sure a pain," instead of "That was a pain, wasn't it?").
