I vaguely remember some of the parts that clearly had ShindoL's name on them. I don't remember any major plot or lore stuff. I definitely played it with the English patch.

I'm asking because I recently read a review of it, and it said the unofficial English translation goes back and forth on whether Danes' nickname is "Flaming Rapier" or "Flame Rapier". And I don't know if this issue is present in the Japanese script. (If someone is reading this doesn't know who she is, she's one of the VN's heroines.)

That sounds like a rather minor translation inconsistency to be concerned about. I would assume that it's probably literally Flame Rapier, and the other one is an attempt to make it sound better in English.

I am quite dumb so i dont really understand why you dont show the poll(?) List, but if you dont show it because you want to know the real interest people have in titles, i think it is wrong. The people that comes to you have... "niche likings" so they just vote for lillit and things like that. You aren't going to get real interest the commuity have.

I'm only trying to gauge the interest of those people, not the wider eroge fandom. The main reason why I don't show people the list is to prevent it from skewing the requests. There's a pattern I've encountered a lot over the years, wherein a specific game will get mentioned for whatever reason, and then I'll get a request or two for it. Merely bringing it up puts the idea in people's heads. I don't want that scaled across the entire list, or I'll never get a genuine sense of what people want, versus what ideas have been put in their heads by the options presented to them. I also want to avoid people acting like it's some sort of vote. I very deliberately do not have an easy requests form or anything like that, because that way, it weeds out the people who can't be bothered to put any effort in.

Are you going to translate all ages tittles in the future? The choices of nukiges that can give you visibility is scarce.

But wherever, i love gatekeeping and i love you being the translator of hardcore, brutal, shit. Maybe you could just migrate to eroguro tittles (I think those can make more popular)

I have no plans to move away from eroge. I technically could, but I don't think anybody here would want that, unless there's a worksafe story that ties into something like Taimanin. I don't care about visibility, as long as I'm not working on stuff so niche that there's practically no audience for it. To that end, although I wouldn't mind working on things that get even more brutal, I think heavy guro would probably be going a little too far for most people.

I am infatuated by Murakami's Kuro Ai animation, especially episode 2 where the crazy older sister sells herself and her younger sister to a brothel to be trained as sex slaves. The dark almost depressing story contrasts well with the wild animation style, and there is nothing else like it. But its English subtitles seem to translate the actual dialogue loosely as is the norm. I tried to get the dialogue by listening to it but it is difficult to understand some words through all the gasping. Can you get the Japanese transcript of the dialogue for episode 2 in your free time? Only if you are interested of course.

That's implying I have free time. I'm very busy right now. And I really don't want to waste what little time I do have decoding a bunch of slurred lines for something I'm not even working on. Sorry.

I don't follow the anime scene closely enough to know that, but I suspect the answer is money. It takes an immense amount of effort to make a hentai anime compared to live action porn. So if market trends change, such that you can make just as much money being lazy, or that the product becomes barely profitable, it's going to lead to cheaper and crappier stuff. Much as I don't like Murakami's adaptations that much, he was absolutely on to something, turning blatant cost-cutting measures into a popular and distinctive animation style.

I think it's purely to do with the fact that certain earlier Tsuma Netori videos were popular, so they're trying to capitalize on that. They'll probably reuse animation from them to save money. The VN is likely irrelevant, because the anime are (I believe) sequels to it, rather than straight adaptations.

It will, but only selectively. For the most part, it will help make lazy, cookie-cutter VNs by aiding people who don't want to put the effort in.

What I'm more interested in is the potential for modification: decensoring, art style changes, quality enhancements to low-resolution games, etc. I'd like to see what TA1 would look like with the anime style, or Kagami's modern look, or especially a photorealistic version.

It turns out that you can't have non-link, plain text URLs that lead to sites like Lilith's anymore. These get flagged instantly, which is quite impressive when you consider how notoriously shit Google's AI is. Everyone thank Big Brother Google for keeping us Safe™ from things that are Harmful™, such as content that isn't even hosted on their servers, or being actively linked to. Well, that's what we've been getting for the last few years. I'm just baffled that they chose a game that nobody especially cares about. You would expect them to milk the Taimanin cash cow instead. Let's not forget, TA0 was originally supposed to come out under the Anime Lilith brand.

From the games I've played, probably Tendou. There's not much to him as a character at all. His backstory might have made him more interesting, except that it was shoved in rather awkwardly at the end, way too late and inconsequentially to matter.

I don't think he does have another blog. You can read the remains of his old one here, but the links he posted seem to be pretty dead. All the art books appear to have been uploaded in segmented .rar files, which have been selectively DMCA'd.

I never liked tentacles to start with. I'm sure I'm meant to focus on the disgust or degradation aspects, but to me, they're just a bunch of nondescript tubes. They might as well be garden hoses, as far as I'm concerned.

I just saw that, and I'm baffled. If there's one thing that I thought would be relatively safe, it's a game that's almost twenty years old and seriously looks like it. I figured that if anybody was going to do it, it would be Frontwing themselves. As for the engine, I imagine they'll either patch it or port the contents to a new version.

Does this news do anything to help you determine which older titles are possible to patch? At least know you know it's not completely outside of the realm of possibility.

That doesn't really mean anything. First of all, I had already figured out how to patch Djibril, but that doesn't guarantee that the same tactics will work on other games with that engine. Secondly, there's a massive difference between a fan translator having to work with existing tools, and a localization company who have been handed the original script and source code.

The only thing this news really does is confirm to me that absolutely nothing is safe anymore. Not new games, not old games, not semi-obscure games with a cult popularity—not even Lilith games, if they decide to finally get their act together about localization. I have a feeling that this blog's days are numbered; not a small number, mind you, but I'm definitely going to have to find something else to do.
